After being inspired by my Airbnb host during my doctorate program, I purchased my first investment property in the community where I live. My initial investment was about 19K. We didn’t do anything fancy, this was a very basic condo rental. Then, a year later, I took out a home equity line on my own home to pay for the down payment on my second investment property. There were lots of lessons learned the hard way! I don’t come from a wealthy family or generational wealth, nor do I have a business coach. Just some luck, research, and hard work!
